Selling books for charity
Posted on July 24th, 2010 @ 3:33 pm

I don’t mind if I have to sell books for charity. I have so many books that I accumulated since I was in high school. That’s when I started buying books. There are a lot of it that I don’t want to re-read anymore so I thought why not sell those books and donate the proceeds to charity, right?

I learned from a friend who is active in charitable work that the Sisters of the Poor convent and shelter near us needs donations for a special event for homeless kids. Good! I am off to find the books that I can sell and will donate the proceeds right away to the convent.

A good deal
Posted on July 24th, 2010 @ 3:28 pm

Great deals. That’s what I am looking for! I earned quite a good amount of money from my last consultancy work and I am thinking of getting my brother a netbook. Of course, it doesn’t mean that since I have the funds to buy one, I would go for the priciest. I am looking at Black Friday Thanksgiving Deals at Buy.com and I will get him one from there!

A good deal is equal to some savings. These days, it is so much better to be wiser when it comes to one’s finances. You just never know when you might need to tap into those savings you get from the great deals you find.

Sudden increase in spam comments
Posted on July 18th, 2010 @ 10:36 am

SpamComments

I don’t know why my blog is suddenly besieged by numerous spam comments. As much as possible I open this blog daily. If not, I do open this at least once a week for regular posting. Whenever I open this blog, the first thing I do is to go to the Comments Section to check pending ones as well as spam. And guess what? I get a minimum of 50 spam comments in a week!

I don’t know what triggered this. I used not to get too many spam comments in this blog. Anyway, to try to solve this problem, nobody can post comments here unless they subscribe first. Let’s see if that works.

Wide space
Posted on July 12th, 2010 @ 4:21 am

Do you know how wide the space of my friend’s area surrounding the house? You need an atv to go around it! It’s that wide! My friend and her parents were able to buy the property five years ago. They paid for the lot first before they had a modest two-story house built on the far side of the lot.

Since my friend’s dad is a gardener by heart, he spent a lot of time planting different plants and trees around the area. He did the landscaping himself. Her mom, on the other hand, helped with planting vegetables in a portion of the property.

If you see their property now, it looks like it is a mini farm in the heart of the city.

Stained skirt
Posted on July 12th, 2010 @ 4:14 am

They were busy chatting while eating dinner. Jeannie forgot that she brought along her daughter with her. Left unattended, the little girl played with her food. She used her hands to pick up her food and would wipe the oil and sauce on her skirt. When Jeannie looked at her little girl, she almost had heart palpitations! The little girl looked like a meat sauce of pasta was poured on her skirt. They immediately went to the restroom and she scrubbed the stains off the girl’s skirt. She used the hand dryers to dry it.

Both of them were laughing when they went out of the restroom. The naughty little girl actually loved that they had to wash her skirt!

Family portrait
Posted on July 12th, 2010 @ 4:08 am

My cousin Georgia is preparing for her parents’ 25th wedding anniversary. She’s planning it together with her sisters who are all living abroad already. They are planning the wedding to be a reunion for the maternal side of their family. Georgia is also thinking of having a portrait done of her whole family. Because of that, she’s checking out the best wrinkle creams for her mom and her older sisters.

She wants all of them to look good in the portrait. She knows it will last a lifetime so to look good is a must.

Keeping my fingers crossed
Posted on July 3rd, 2010 @ 5:02 pm

The big G of the internet took something from this blog. And darn! I worked hard for it. I updated regularly and really did my best to maintain it. My sister said that it might be a sign for me to push through with my original plans of transferring everything to another blog. The only problem I have with that is I don’t know how to do that anymore. I mean technically, it’s easy. But the lost posts and all that?

I really pray that when I do transfer, the program will approve it. They said yes before but now that they’re asking for blogs with the green juice…

I am keeping my fingers crossed that I be allowed. I can’t afford to lose one now. Please Lord?

Signs of depression
Posted on July 3rd, 2010 @ 4:58 pm

If you look at Jean, you wouldn’t know that she had undergone depression treatment for almost a year. She suffered from depression when she lost her job and her boyfriend at the same time. It was a really low point in her life and she suffered. She didn’t want to talk to anyone, wouldn’t even allow family members near her. She kept to herself, locked most of the time in her bedroom. She just withdrew from life.

Her mom was a counselor in a big university and she saw the signs of depression in Jean. She immediately arranged for professional help. Better to address it early on. Jean is not a suicidal person but you just never know. Her mom didn’t take any chances. She did what she knew was best for Jean.

And now, Jean was able to bounce back in life!

Weird dream
Posted on July 3rd, 2010 @ 4:51 pm

I had a weird dream. I was in a big house and I was alone. I can hear people outside so I walked to the door and tried to get out. I kept turning the door knob but nothing’s happening. I was just there trying to turn the knob to be able to get out.

The weird thing was, there were no walls around and I could as easily walk out through the sides of the door but I was so fixated on trying to open it.

My friend told me that it might be an indication that I am focusing on something when I should actually be looking at the bigger picture to see the solution I am seeking.

It might be. Or it might just be that I am losing focus and I am reminded about it.

Two-month vacation stint
Posted on July 3rd, 2010 @ 4:36 pm

Lydie spent two months on a grand vacation. Her mom worked abroad for more than a decade and when she went home for good, she requested that Lydie go on a two-month vacation leave and since Lydie’s boss understood the situation, her request was approved. Can you imagine how excited mom and daughter to be spending time together? Lydie’s mom cooked her all her favorite dishes. Lydie then spent her savings bringing her mom to spas, movies, and shops that she frequents. They really enjoyed their two-month vacation a lot!

The drawback? Lydie now has to spend for Lipofuze! She gained ten pounds from eating too much and lazing around! Of course she’s shrugging it off. She’s just too happy to finally have her mom home. Finally.
