Fascinated

Our little girl is fascinated with hand dryers. Whenever we go in restrooms, she would make a bee line towards the hand dryer and would ask me or any one of my sisters that she would like to wash her hands. The reason? So she could dry her hand from one of the hand dryers around.

I think she loves the hot air blowing off the machine. Or the fact that she sees grown-ups using it after washing their hands. I tell you, she can probably spend an hour drying her hand if we let her!

Convenience store

January 17, 2010 - Posted in business buzz

Two of our friendly neighborhood sari-sari stores are now big convenience stores that even sell textbooks, brand new and second-hand ones. I don’t go out much so it was only last Friday that I found out about it. I felt like buying a tub of ice cream so I went out and when I was looking for the old sari-sari store a few houses away, I was surprised to find a new one standing in its place. When I went in, it’s the same friendly neighbor who was manning the cash register. Turned out the family had a windfall and they used it to expand their store.

Today…

I have decided to learn…

Yep! Learn something new. A new place where I can go to next. A new restaurant my sisters and I can try out next. A great place to hangout for me and my friends when we meet up again.

Happy day for everyone!

Working half asleep

January 14, 2010 - Posted in all about moi

Have you ever been in this kind of situation wherein all your mind and body want is to rest but you are fighting it because you know you still have tons of things to do? I have been in that kind of situation many times in the past already.

Just the other day, I was working when my brother asked a favor from me. He wanted me to type something for him, complete with a diagram. Since he badly needed it for school, I said yes. It was three in the morning, my eyes were half closed, while browsing paid web directories, I loaded a word document and started doing my brother’s request…

Working when you are already half asleep was hard! I couldn’t recall how I finished the diagram. I think I crawled to bed after that and was asleep for a good six hours.

Friendship is…

January 14, 2010 - Posted in special occasions

One of the things I love about my high school friends is that we can talk about anything and everything under the sun. We can be brutally honest with each other and we don’t want it any other way. The last time we had a get together, L had been teasing M about her need for a wrinkle cream. M loves tanning and the bad effects are already showing off. L was teasing her about the wrinkles she’s getting from too much exposure to the sun. But it’s also a reminder of sorts for her to take care of her skin more.

Another friend, A, told J that she badly needs to stop denying the fact that her boyfriend is taking her for granted and is just in it for the money only. J listened to the lecture from A because J knows that it’s concern and love for her that A was able to say things like that. And decades of friendship.

Friendship for me is sticking with each other through thick and thin. And being honest to each other, even if it could sometimes be misconstrued in the beginning.

Night of fun

January 14, 2010 - Posted in special occasions

I saw a bunch of my friends after Christmas. We got to catch up with what’s happening in our lives. We also got to talk about our common friends who are not here in the country. One is already working in a British company in Dubai. She’s coming home to get married this month. Another is already living elsewhere with her boyfriend and their son. She’s very conservative back in high school but when we saw her photos in a social networking site, we were surprised to find her in bikinis! Nice change! Another one who’s not a friend anymore seems to have aged a lot. She has eyebags that made her look ill. We were saying that she needs an eye cream to get back her beauty. Another friend is now a vice president of the human resources department of an international bank. We hardly get to see him because he’s too busy with work and starting a family of his own.

It was a night of fun that we won’t soon forget!

Aging prematurely?

January 14, 2010 - Posted in all about moi

Since I am already writing about worrying, I might as well tell you that my aunt just told me to try some anti aging product she’s using. She feels that I am aging before her very eyes. Nothing wrong there except my aging is premature, according to her.

I always get ribbed about being too serious. Or a nerd. Or too much of a homebody. What can I say? I became like this over the years because of the responsibilities I have. No regrets because I feel like I am a better person now more than ever. But I think my aunt’s right. The worried look ages me a lot. It has to go!

Maybe…

January 14, 2010 - Posted in all about moi

Maybe, this is what I need. To get away for a while. To reassess everything, think clearly. Or to empty my mind of needless worry and unimportant things.

As I’ve mentioned in another post, I worry too much. I think too much and then I get so emotional about things. Hay…

Time to unwind!

Worrying too much

January 14, 2010 - Posted in all about moi

I worry too much. Especially when the issue stems from the family. There’s just too many things to be concerned about. Sometimes, I try hard not to think of it anymore. But being the eldest, I can’t help it. There are things you can try to avoid doing but you can’t actually do no matter what. Like worrying about your love ones’ welfare.

My dad. I think he needs a colon cleanse already. There are days when he feels like he’s having problems with digestion. He still smokes a lot and eats a lot, too. Sigh. My sisters, on the other hand, are doing okay. I just worry about them when it’s already late at night and they’re still out. My brother… now, that’s a whole different story to tell. He’s my biggest worry right now.

Can you see the wrinkles on my forehead already?

Health concerns

January 14, 2010 - Posted in all about moi

Whenever I travel, one of the things I worry about is my endurance to the walking and trekking we’d be doing. I am overweight. I’d be really honest about it but I easily get tired. I am actually very lazy when it comes to walking but when I really want to explore a place, I’d endure the heat, perspiration, itchiness of the dust around, and the shortness of breath I experience. The latter is my biggest concern. I get dizzy and short of breath when I have to climb flights of steps.

I do believe that it’s time for me to try out some weight loss products that my friends are recommending. I need to be healthy if I will travel more this year. And I intend to travel more in 2010!
